Rules
In the resent decades many borders have been created and erased. A set of rules is therefore necessary.

Current borders
The borders found in the Border Crossing Hitlist database are the land borders currently recognized by the International Boundaries Research Unit at Durham University. Therefore you will not find borders to areas like Palestina, North Cyprus etc. IBRU does also not recognize artificially constructed borders like Denmark-Sweden, France-United Kingdom and Malaysia-Singapore. For the same reason, the former borders like East-West Germany and China-Macau are not included.

Specific rules
New borders
If you have crossed from Croatia to Serbia before there was an international border, you cannot count it.

Old border - new countries
If you have crossed the East German-Czechoslovakian border, you can count the German-Czech border.

Crossing a border by air does not count.

No doubt, new issues will arise when people travel in war zones, Antartica etc., and we will take them as we go along. If there is a general interest in changing the rules, I am open to suggestions.

Enjoy
